Organizational Background

First Choice Services began in 1995 as a collaborative effort among West Virginia’s comprehensive behavioral health care centers. These centers came together to combine their resources and expertise, aiming to improve the management of statewide behavioral health contracts. That spirit of collaboration still drives us today.

What started in West Virginia has grown into a multi-state network. We now operate helplines and programs across several states—all with the shared goal of promoting well-being and making behavioral health and social services easier to access.

Our team of over 200 staff members works 24/7, responding to more than 200,000 calls for help every year. We’re proud to be a fair-chance employer, offering meaningful roles to peers with a wide range of lived experiences. That perspective helps us stay grounded, responsive, and deeply human in everything we do.
